On 21 October, ATLAS’ Manager, Tamsin Parkes, met with Vicky Ford MP alongside Chair of AIF, Peter Bennett OBE, and Connect PA’s Riccardo Robertson. The meeting was set up following Tamsin contacting her local MP, Vicky Ford, who agreed to meet to discuss work at height. The aim of the meeting was to introduce Vicky to the APPG and its priorities concerning health and safety when working at height. It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet with an MP who is widely seen as a future government minister to talk about the issues that are effecting the sector.
As a result of the meeting, Vicky pledged to support and assist the group, particularly in creating greater engagement between the APPG and other Conservative MPs. Therefore, the meeting was successful in securing a new parliamentary advocate for the APPG and we look forward to furthering this following the General Election. ATLAS’ highest priority is to represent members in Government concerning health and safety in the sector, as working at height results in the highest number of worker fatalities across all industries.
